Preparing For The Holidays...

Last night as I sat working on my calendar for the week and our weekly lesson plans I came across a section in my Well Planned Day Planner that helps me plan for the holidays.

We have been in San Antonio for 3 months now and November is my favorite month for a couple of reasons. Number one being it is my birthday this month! I am turning 40 on Sunday and I am really looking forward to this stage of my life!
Number two being the beginning of the "Holiday Season."

I have always been a planner. I am not very organized but I am a planner! *chuckle to myself* I know odd right? Well I am, what can I say! So as I start putting things down in this section of my planner I came across a page that  has a list of who to buy for, what you want to buy, where to buy it from, and how much you spend or spent. Now I'm NOT that organized! LOL However I do have a plan on what I want to buy for my husband and daughter, and this year I plan to do just that!

Previously for the past 3 years we have struggled financially and now that we are back in the city I love I am earning a livable wage for the first time since we left here 8 years ago! I get to be at home with by baby girl all day and teach her lessons, I get to make dinner for my family and I get to get out of the house for a few hours at night and have adult conversations, meet new people and explore my city! I LOVE IT!

Driving for Uber has been the best decision I've ever made! I'm getting to save to help build my travel business which will eventually tie into my Uber business! I"m feeling a little more independent. It felt nice to know that the groceries we bought this weekend came from my earnings and that I was able to contribute to our house hold once again. I've never felt that I had no value but I always have had some tiny amount of guilt that my husband has been the primary bread winner in our family for almost our entire marriage. I've done things here and there but my income has always been paltry until the first time we moved here. I worked full time and a health insurance agent and I love my work then as well. However since the birth and adoption of our daughter my sole focus has been raising her. (Something we discussed and were 100% willing to make a sacrifice for)

Now she is going to be 8 in December and she gets to have alone time with her daddy each evening and I get to help contribute to the betterment of our family!

So, Now that I've rambled on about me contributing financially, let me get back to the point.
I sat looking at this planner, and I thought to myself what to I want to buy my family for Christmas this year? I want to buy them some surprises!
So I'm getting our usual, Christmas Pj's and we will need new stockings this year as well as a tree skirt and lights for our new tree. This year will be our first San Antonio Christmas as a family!
Hubby and I spent 2 Christmases here just the two of us, now it is good to have our baby girl here in the our city! 💖

I got a few things written down but I am still trying to decide what to do for her Christmas gift. She has mentioned wanting several things and it all boils down to two things... she has too many toys she doesn't play with now and doesn't want to give away, AND she needs more options for storage in her room and closet and storage makes for a bad gift for an 8 year old!

Hubby is not any easier to buy for but I do know he would like a couple of things and I'll let her buy him something and I'll buy him something and then of course they will have to go shopping on their own for me ( like they always do).  I love these two. They always try to do something they know I'd like! 😍

Well I've got some school work that could stand to get done and I need to take a nap so I can work tonight.

Tell me how you plan for your holidays! I'd love to hear how other people plan, prepare ect..

God Bless,
G

Radio days...

I've had a part time job at our local radio station for about 5 months now.  I have an education background in broadcasting so this is not something completely new to me.

I LOVE coming to the station to work weather it be sports or a remote broadcast for one of our three stations.

I mostly produce sports and it's not too bad. This week I'm filling in on the air for our sports caster while he is on vacation. I get to write my sportscast as "report" the sports 4 times each morning. It's pretty cool because yesterday I got to help our morning show host with the 2nd half of his show after I was finished with my sports.

My daughter is 6 and gets to come to the station with me anytime I work during the day. She is a good girl and everyone loves her! LOL She does talk a lot so I have to remind her that this is a place of business and the people here are working so she needs to stay either with me or in my office while I'm on the air and not bug people! :D

She does pretty good sometimes. hee hee.

Well I've finished writing my sports cast for today and am preparing to go live. So I guess I need to get to the studio.

Our 3 stations all link together.. so if you ever want to listen live just go to... KLBC or KBBC  or KSEO

Have a Blessed Day!

Going Back to Work...

Today for the first time in about 18 months I'm going to a business meeting. I never wanted to be a career mom. I wanted to be a full time wife and mother and I have been since the day my princess was born. I am however a Licensed Life and Health insurance agent. I LOVED my job before I was laid off. I do want to be involved with a company who's goal is to help the average person plan for their future. I feel like I'm very good at what I do and I know how to talk to families about planning for the future and the future of their families.

So, this afternoon I'm going to a meeting with a company to see if they are something I'd like to be associated with. If not I will work on doing this all on my own from the comfort of my home. I love the idea of working form home because I can still be that full-time wife and mom as well as contribute to the family finances.

I'm excited and a little nervous all at the same time. :o) I'm ready to be helping my husband with the financial portion of our family and I want to build my daughters college fund. I'm also looking forward to building our savings back up.

Lord, be with me today, help me to ask the right questions, help me to, listen and learn and help me to be the best I can be. In Jesus name, Amen.

I'm Getting a Promotion!!!!

It finally happened! Our Operations manager came to me on Monday and said " congratulations, You've been chosen to become a Licensed Agent."! I was sooo excited! Not only do I get to test to become a Licensed Life and Health Insurance Agent but I get a pay raise and commission!

This is an answer to prayer! God is really taking care of us! I go Monday the 4th for the first of 3 class sessions, then as far as I know we come back to our office Thursday and test on Friday! I'm kinda nervous but I'm also very excited !

Now I'm just praying God will help speed the process of receiving all my state licenses from around the country.

A Bit About Work...

Yesterday was a rough day at work. I was in the position of being the stand in team lead. There has been some real drama. The women in my team have a real tendancy to bad mouth me. I guess it is because I have kind of been singled out to be "2nd in command" if you will. I mean I am only doing my job yet they are finding ways to make my life hell when it comes to work.

I has sent out a text asking family and friends to pray for me because my day was going very bad, while I was on my lunch break. When I came back from my lunch the woman that has been giving me an extremely hard time was in the hallway surrounded by paramedics!

When I got back in the office I found out that she had started having a heart attack! I never prayed for anything bad to happen to her and I'm sure I had nothing to do with that. However I did pray that the Lord would watch over her and if it were his will she would be healed or at least be okay.
Today was better but I've been so tired.. I wound up falling asleep earlier and now I'm up too late. I still have to make myself get up in the morning so that I can shower, eat and pack my lunch for work. And as much as I would LOVE to miss a day I can't.

We have this new attendance policy and if we are out of Paid Time Off and Unpaid Time Off and we miss a day we get wrote up unless it is one of the pre determined excused absences.

Okay well I'm going to stop boring you with work and head off to bed.

As You Can See...

The title has changed... We have offically decided to stop the adoption process.
We have several things in our lives that are leading us to this decission and we are confident that this is the right path to take.

I have been busy working here at home and helping my Grandmother with things she need taken care of. My primary concern at this moment is tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Founder's Day in Locust Grove,(the town we lived in when we were first married).
We are going there to be vendors. I am going to sell the Disciple's Cross Necklaces that I make and help my mom draw in business to her computer store.

I'm even going to take a couple of movies and our laptops so we can let people see the up close and personal!

Well it is rather late and I have to get up at 5am to leave by 6am to be in Locust Grove at 8am.

God Bless and If you are in Oklahoma and in the vacinity of Locust Grove stop by and enjoy the day with us we will be at Stable Rock Computers on Main Street!

HOLY COW!!!!

IT IS SNOWING IN OKLAHOMA!

I left work this evening and it was raining with some snow flurries. I went to my grandparents to help them learn how to use their laptop. When I got ready to leave there and go up to the church for a bit it was just snow. and it is still just snow!

Ernie is going to wake up to a surprise! I haven't seen snow in April in a very long time!
WE have had snow in March but I honestly cannot remember the last time we had snow in April.

We have been preparing for our Youth Group's First annual Summer Kick Off Luau!
It is very exciting and we have just a little more than a month to get it planned. We are going to have a couple of bands and we are hoping to have some fun and games for the event as well. I have been trying to find door prizes that they would enjoy. I am going to see if I can get some CD's or something like that.

I don't have to work for the next few days and I am praying that I will be able to find a couple of families that need a good sitter. I really don't want to have to go back to work full time.
Well I need to go for now ....
God bless and take care !

Call me The Nanny.....

I interviewed for a nanny position today! I pray that they decide to have me on because I think it will be a perfect position for me. I will be able to make Ernie dinner on the two nights a week he he work early. I'll be able to run the few little errands I need to run and I'll be able to take my grandmother to the doctor if and when she needs to go.

The girls are 4 and 16mos. and they have a big brother who is 10. I'll be there from about 7:45am to somewhere between 2-5... The father is a plumber by trade and sometimes is able to be off work around 2pm. I would not have to loose any money on those days as they have agreed on a flat fee. Which I am very agreeable with.

well any way I did start making my cross necklaces and it will take me a few more tries to get it down pat but they are coming along. Today Ernie and I ran across another Certified Producer for Disciples Cross at Wal-Mart. She said her's are selling quite well! That put a spring in my step ast I have been praying that God allowing me to make the right decissions.

Well it is getting really late and I honestly need to get to bed and get some sleep. I am going to work on getting back on track with my FLYLady tomorrow as I have really slacked off.
I know I can do anything for 15min. at a time!

God Bless you ...!!! Please keep praying for us as we work with the youth group and as we Wait for the phone call on a match!

I am waiting for a call from my grandfathers boss at the Hospice. She is looking for a Nanny and I am hoping she calls, I would love to take care of kids again. I'm praying that God will open her heart to be open to lettting me to take care of her kids at my house that is my goal as I would really rather be at home so I can cook dinner for Ernie.

I'll just keep praying about and rely on my Jesus to work it all out!

well it is getting late so I better go... I'll post again soon!

Interview #1....

Last Wednesday we had our first Home-Study interview. It went very well and I was quite relieved. I was supposed to meet with her again to do my individual interview yesterday but not only was I sick but she had a sick child at home, so I guess that worked out.

I came home from work yesterday and went to bed. I am feeling much better this morning and my husband is planning something for valentines day that I was informed to expect the unexpected. hmmmm. A statement like that could really make a girl think!

Ernie has never really done much for me when it comes to valentine's day. A card was all I really got. last year I got a little porcelin bear holding a rose and a giant card. A very sweet and thoughtful gift.

He is not a real romantic man but he has something planned for me this year and is not telling me so I like that.
He asked if I would make sure the dinning room table is de-cluttered... so i'm thinking he's going to cook me dinner. That would be a treat because he is a great cook and NEVER cooks for me!

Well anyway I have got to get ready for work I have a lot to catch up on today, since I came home early.

Take care and God Bless!

Johnathan and My New Job...

My brother and sister-in-law got to bring Johnathan Daniel home yesterday! He is doing well and weighs around 5lbs.4oz. Our part of the state is still covered in ice and we got a dusting of snow last night.

I starte my new job yesterday. It is going to be a lot of fun... I think I made the right decission accepting their job offer. I was very tired yesterday evening but with all the free coffee I could drink I made it through.

One of the guys in my training class looks like my ex-husband which is kind of scarry... I'm not the oldest person in the class but I'm the second oldest! It's kind of funny though Angie (the oldest one) and I get along great! She doesn't live very far from me and I think we will become great friends. One of the younger girls - there are only for girls-is quite young and getting married in March... She seems really sweet and seems to like me and so she talks to me quite a bit.. Mostly because I listen to her.

Now my job is not difficult. It is providing qualily customer care to Earthlink customers.
I am familiar with Earthlink and I love customer service. I'm a people person so it will be easy for me to do this job.
well I've got to start getting ready for work... I need to leave here in a couple of hours and I still have to shower.
God Bless!
